Important Alert: Secure Florida Portal for Property Ownership Registration
Governor DeSantis has recently introduced the SecureFlorida Portal, specifically tailored to streamline the registration process for foreign individuals in compliance with new legislation SB 264.
The new law particularly affects foreign individuals residing in certain foreign countries, including those residing in China, Russia, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran and Syria who are not citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States.
Under this legislation, foreign individuals who owned or acquired property within 10 miles of any military installation or critical infrastructure facility in Florida before July 1, 2023, are required to register their properties by February 3, 2024 (statutory deadline of December 31, 2023 was extended due to passage of additional regulatory rules) . Failure to do so may result in a daily penalty of $1,000 for each day the registration is late.
Our law firm is ready to provide the necessary legal guidance and support throughout the property registration process on the SecureFlorida Portal.
